Doll Refresh and Restyle in 2024

Bruni in her refreshed closet - colorful and happy!

Happy New Year!

If you have been here before, you may notice that I have been making a few changes to the website. The beginning of the year always gets me motivated to make changes and get back into blogging and sharing with you! This blog does hold a special place in my heart and I wanted to get back to it. The color changes have come from a refresh of my dolly muse Brunbelle as well!

After years of associating Bruni with pale blush pink and pastels, I finally gave in to the fact that frankly that color washes out her pale skin! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE blush pink, but honestly it looks a lot better on a more tanned skin. I’m not quite sure why they chose her for that doll outfit. I haven’t given up that color palette completely, but I have always recognized that Bruni looks amazing in red and other muted primary colors. There is still pink involved and her style is still feminine and pretty, but it’s a bit more stylized.

I’ve been getting back into sewing as well, so I’ve made quite a few new garments to add to her closet.

Bruni’s hair has come down, she’s wearing more bold accessories and brighter colors and patterns. Some of the inspiration comes from brands like Francis Valentine, the Max Mara Weekend collaboration with Anthony Baratta, and Tuckernuck.

This year, I’m looking forward to continuing to improve my doll sewing skills and finish some of my many dioramas in progress. I have some fun things planned for the blog, so I hope you will stay tuned for new customs, DIY’s, resources, and inspiration!

What changes are you making this year with your doll collection?

Are you hoping to try some new crafts?

Are you on the hunt for something specific?

Let me know, I’d love to hear what you are currently interested in and how I might be able to integrate it into the blog to help you out.

Here’s to a great year of inspiration and creativity!

  2. I am just getting into adult collecting and am having a blast! Barbie was a huge part of my childhood!

I am leaning towards wanting to make stuff or repurpose things over buying, I am amazed at the resources available!

I am trying to teach myself to sew!

I LOVE the polka dot shirt and purse pants!!

    1. Thank you! I’m having a lot of fun with color and patterns! I’m hoping to do a few posts on sewing essentials and potentially sharing some basic patterns that will help start a homemade wardrobe.

  3. Having your color analysis done was hugely popular in the 1980’s. We were given a pallette of colors (named for the four seasons) that would look best against our hair and skin tone. Bruni would likely be a “Winter,” and would rock the jewel tones: emerald, garnet, sapphire, ruby, and amethyst, as well as black and white. I was classified as a Winter, but with age my hair has greyed, so now I’m a Summer. Still wearing my jewel tones though — dark teal today.
