I still haven’t touched the attic or the garage and have plans to build a pergola on the upper left hand area. I also have plans for the outside, but that will be last! Continue reading “KidKraft Mansion Makeover Project: Part 2 – Making Progress?”I’m not sure what came over me, but I decided to start looking for one of the giant KidKraft doll houses. I’ve never made over an actual dollhouse and have always wanted to. I did a fair amount of research and decided which house I wanted, how much I was willing to pay for it, and planned where it would live in my home. Once I had those points covered, I started searching on Facebook Marketplace.
It took a few weeks to find the right one close enough to me, so in between rainy days I was able to pick it up this past weekend. Although I have an SUV, it’s so large, I had to dismantle part of it to fit in, plus I had my dog, so he needed a bit of space! You can find the house details at the KidKraft website.

Thank you so much for following along in our transformation journey with the Glitter Girls Sweet Shop (found here on Amazon). I am thrilled with where it ended up and I have had a lot of fun taking photos. This whole project evolved as it went along. I originally only intended to paint the blue trim portions of the exterior and then work with what they already created, but it certainly morphed into a total transformation.
As you know, one of our goals is for our dolls and dioramas to have the same beautiful items we have in our homes. Glassware is a tricky one since it can’t easily be created or painted. I do plan to delve into resin experiments this summer, but who knows how that will go! In the meantime, I’ve created some decorative household items using items we should all be able to find. A second bedroom in progress from my main dollhouse.
As promised here is the final chapter of how I put together some of my room boxes for my one-sixth scale dioramas. These are easy and cost effective ways to create back drops for your dolls and mini life.
As mentioned last week, I decided that I would do a short series for diorama walls and room box ideas. My goal is to keep the costs down and allow them to be collapsible and storable. So continuing the Mix and Match theme, I have created a few more concept ideas for interchangeable walls. Each of these build on the concepts shown in last week’s blog found here.
Jasmine is our girly girl and she’s loving her new floral wallpaper and cup of tea.
For a while now, I thought how could I create a room set up where I could swap out the “wallpaper?” I really needed to give it the head space it deserved because I knew it could be extremely useful for many in the doll community. What I’ve come up with is a way to create walls that you can interchange with different papers for endless different looks and also deconstruct and store flat.
