When our good dollfriend @thedauhlhouse threw out the idea of a Dollar Tree Design Challenge, I jumped at the chance. This is so up my alley or my jam or whatever cliche phrase I could think of. I gathered ALL of my Dollar Tree supplies and carefully sorted and brainstormed with the goods before picking the direction I wanted to go. I had a break through and decided to go all out…Bougee and Extra and I LOVE it! Hope you do too:
I know it’s been awhile, but as the saying goes, better late than never! I can’t even tell you how much I enjoy sharing with all of you and wish I could do more! I have so many ideas!
We are approaching Spring and it should be all butterflies, baskets, and weddings…but while embarking on my latest obsession of re-rooting and flocking hair, it dawned on me that flocking could be used for some fashion accessories, namely shoes (to mimic suede or velvet)!

As many of you know, it takes a lot of time and energy to keep cranking out DIY tutorials and blog posts when you have a more than full-time job and responsibilities. As much as it makes me happy to craft and share, it is not where I need to be focused right now. Bruni & I are going to take an unofficial break from regular postings and tutorials for some or all of the Summer. It’s a shame since the blog is really starting to take off, but we are all faced with tough decisions on a regular basis. Many are busy with kids during the Summer, so you may not have time to craft anyway, so it will be a good time for me to limit my posts and not commit every week to a new feature.
The time has come to announce the winners! I want to reiterate just how amazing everyone did with their room recreations. You are all winners in my book and should be extremely proud of yourselves! It was extremely difficult to make a final decision, but after a lot of consideration, I have selected the top 3 winners of Bruni’s Spring Challenge (the random winner is announced at the end of this post so be sure to read through the entire post). Congratulations to the winners!
Kensee and Bruni are off to the hardware store in hopes of finding some great accessories for upcoming interior design jobs!
During my last few trips to the hardware store for my basics like spray paint and glue pens, I decided to sleuth a little more than normal and document it for you! There are so many normal household items at the hardware store that can be used for miniature items. There’s more than meets the eye at your local hardware store; I hope you too find some surprises here!

As you know, one of our goals is for our dolls and dioramas to have the same beautiful items we have in our homes. Glassware is a tricky one since it can’t easily be created or painted. I do plan to delve into resin experiments this summer, but who knows how that will go! In the meantime, I’ve created some decorative household items using items we should all be able to find. A second bedroom in progress from my main dollhouse.
As promised here is the final chapter of how I put together some of my room boxes for my one-sixth scale dioramas. These are easy and cost effective ways to create back drops for your dolls and mini life.
As mentioned last week, I decided that I would do a short series for diorama walls and room box ideas. My goal is to keep the costs down and allow them to be collapsible and storable. So continuing the Mix and Match theme, I have created a few more concept ideas for interchangeable walls. Each of these build on the concepts shown in last week’s blog found here.
Jasmine is our girly girl and she’s loving her new floral wallpaper and cup of tea.
For a while now, I thought how could I create a room set up where I could swap out the “wallpaper?” I really needed to give it the head space it deserved because I knew it could be extremely useful for many in the doll community. What I’ve come up with is a way to create walls that you can interchange with different papers for endless different looks and also deconstruct and store flat.
These chairs are so popular in human scale and so many design rooms, that I had to figure out how to make them using inexpensive materials. So, as promised here is a picture tutorial of how I constructed this chair. This post is quick and dirty and much rougher formatting than normal, but since it’s an extra post, I hope you don’t mind!
